Tofu Burgers                                                     Serves 4

Tofu Balls/Burgers

Tofu can be exciting and tasty! I like to make this recipe as small balls and serve them at our parties as finger food. People love it especially when I’m generous with the salt. It is a hit with meat lovers too. These can be served as a gourmet main course with Ginger-Tahini Sauce and Roasted Vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 1 Pkg Tofu (1lb or 450g)
  • 1/2 C Seaweed (Wakame or Dulse) Soaked for 3min.
  • 2 Carrots (Med) grated
  • 1/3 C Toasted Sesame Seeds
  • 3 Tbsp Soya Sauce
  • 1/2 C Flour (more if needed)
  • Salt
  • Oil

Preparation

  1. Oil a large baking dish (7x12).
  2. Pour oil into a small dipping dish.
  3. Squeeze excess water from tofu and seaweed. Less water they have less flour you’ll need to use.
  4. Mix thoroughly all ingredients (except oil) making sure that the tofu is broken into tiny pieces.
  5. Taste the mixture to make sure that it has enough salt.
  6. Form burgers or balls - if not firm enough add more flour.
  7. Dip each burger/ball into the oil to make sure that it is well covered with oil.
  8. Place each burger/ball into the baking dish - bake 1hr (375 degrees) until golden.

TapBeer White Wine

These burgers are robust because of the saltiness of the seaweed. Best served with a dry chardonnay or even beer. We especially recommend you try pairing them with these:
